Review – Deadpool 2

Deadpool 2 is very good, it’s wild, surprising and funny. On the action side it’s much better than the original, but mostly this is just a very funny movie.

The thing the original had though was a romance between characters who enjoyed having sex. Not only was that delightful it’s still such a novelty. So that’s magic the sequel doesn’t recapture.

But this movie is a winner all around.

Zazie Beetz as Domino is so amazingly good. Domino is not a character I’ve ever particularly loved (though she’s been good in good stories) but here she is off the charts good. She has a sequence that ranks up there with the first Quicksilver scene as just a great showcase for a character’s powers. Beetz brings such a good screen presence and energy and the movie does a great job of building her up.

This had my favorite inside baseball comics joke I’ve heard in one of these movies and a joke that elicited a delayed reaction because it was so dumb and they worked so hard for it. Good stuff.

Thank You For Your Time.
